If you don’t learn from history, you are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. The “Freedom Index“ pre-dates the election of President Obama, before the ideological split that seems so pervasive in our society today, before the 111th Congress, there was the 110th Congress, and before that the 109th Congress, each lasting 2 years.
“The Freedom Index: A Congressional Scorecard Based on the U.S. Constitution” rates congressmen based on their adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and a traditional foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements”
The index was produced by the “The New American”, where a score of 100 would be perfect adherence to constitutional principles.
Our Congressman, Congressman Bishop of the 2nd Congressional District of Georgia scored a whopping score of 0 for 2008, and an average 11 for the entire 110th congress. He has averaged a score of just 10 for 2009, the first half of 111th Congress. In the last half of 2006, he received a score of 70 and an average of 42 for the entire 109th Congress. In the 109th Congress, his score put him in the middle of all Georgia House members. Since the beginning of 2007 our Blue Dog, Work Horse score has put him at the bottom of the Index for all Georgia House members. So what happened?
In 2007 the Democrats took control of both the House and the Senate. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid became the heads of their respective house, adherence to constitutional principles dropped dramatically and either our Blue Dog Congressman showed his true colors or he is as I’ve said before, Pelosi’s Lap Dog.
